On Tuesday The Bean had their first meeting at a Fairtrade chocolate bar called Cocolo (a full review of them is coming soon I promise!). The Bean is a new zine project that a few friends of mine and I have started up to provide Melbourne with a resource on ethical living, fair trade, vegan and vegeness, organic, social justice and all the rest. More importantly it’s also all about creating community between different people and their groups - sharing resources, knowledge and skill. It’s a pretty exciting venture and we hope to have our first issue out this December. We had about 10 people along at our first meeting, and meet every second Tuesday.

So if you have any zine-related skills we’d love to hear from you. Design, marketing, printing, fundraising, article-writing, ideas, event planning - we’re starting from virtually scratch so we need it all.
