More pollution to fix climate change

Some crazy scientists ‘hypothetically’ are saying one solution to climate change may be to deliberately pour a layer of sulfates into the atmosphere. The idea is that this sort of pollution reflects solar radiation back into space cooling down the earth. Like when a big volcano went off a while ago it spewed a whole heap of the stuff into the atmosphere, cooling the earth down a bit. There are some problems with the idea…

A massive dissemination of pollutants would be needed every year or two, as the sulfates precipitate from the atmosphere in acid rain.

To their credit they said they were trying to startle governments as to how serious and urgent climate change is. Let’s just hope things never get that bad!
