Heard about AFRICOM? It’s the new US “bureau for nation building” (according to Kaplan) developed by the US military. It may be dangerous to mix foreign policy and humanitarianism (explicitly as opposed to implicitly) and military/foreign policy goals may be conflict with real development. More from Blattman.
