What microloans are missing

People love micro-credit. People love micro-credit. People LOVE micro-credit. Did I make my point? Seriously, the more people I talk to, the more people I find who are infatuated with micro-lending. This is especially for ‘compassionate capitalists’, who see it as a great alternative to all that darn free money that’s handed out. See here for one reason why more then just micro-credit is needed.

Interesting article there Dev. Hopefully more people begin investing in businesses and activities that will have a greater positive impact on society as a whole, instead of just a small minority. The fact that many businesses are missing out just because they aren’t in the poorest category is a bit sad. Reminds me of all the towns and cities who missed out on foreign aid after the tsunami because everything was going to Aceh!

  2. That’s true Engle. It’s a shame when good development ideas turn into fads. Good development requires a variety of different programs and ideas to succeed.
