Another nail in factory farming’s coffing - turns out organic farming can feed the world - it could even double or triple yields in developing countries.
Interesting project to create the “perfect t-shirt”. Fair wages, eco-friendly, sustainable, everything down to water supplies, transportation and the dyes being used. It will be interesting to see how much this baby costs.
This Friday, Saturday and Sunday is going to be awesome! Fed Square is going to packed out with people, stalls and performances all about living sustainably. The Sustainable Living Festival is coming, and it’s going to be awesome. Just take a look at all the sessions on their site, there’s bound to be something to interest you. I’d highly encourage you to get along.
Great post on Gristmill about a funny butcher encounter. The writer went to a butcher and asked for grass fed beef, the response? “I don’t think cows can eat grass”! Good quote in the comments too, whereas we grass fed free roaming cattle worked pretty well: “We decided to slice this system apart into row crops and feedlots. As Wendell Berry said, “we took an old solution and neatly divided it into two problems.”
The MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY festival introduced me to a whole heap of great new organisations and people, and amongst them was VegiFix, Jerry’s Vegi Burgers. A fantastically yummy vegetarian and vegan catering outfit in Prahran. They were serving these awesome veggie burgers at the festival that were seriously satisfying. With homemade mayo, tomato relish and satay sauce (a must!). I’d love to have these guys at my wedding, we can only hope. So if you get a chance pop in to Shirts and Skirts Market where they’ll be serving up some delicious treats.
